Important issues like war are what are important to me! It depends on the way you were raised because in my family we believe that we should finish the war in iraq instead of just pulling out of the war. Many people may agrue with me but its just the way i was raised, to keep going and never give up. I have had 2 people in my family that have been to Iraq. So my family feels very strong about not pulling out! Dont ever bring up pulling out of the war in my house. Other important issues are thing that we (teenagers)can relate to! Like for me it is the war, maybe to someone it might be Gas because we are now having to but our own.
burnoutbright78an important isuue for me is abortion rights. i strongly believe that the only reason for an abortion is rape, THATS IT!!!! if you had consensual sex and got pregnant, thats your fault. you should have to deal with what you did. thats why sex is supposed to be only within the confines of marriage. i also agree with fzwchick because i have many friends who have family members in the war, many of my relatives have been in past wars, and my best friend is going to the war. i believe that if we pull out of iraq other country's will see this as a sign of weakness in the impenetrable armor of the U.S. then God only knows what will happen.
“half-criminals” or Skate boarders I think that skate boarding is an important issue that affects people my age. Today skate boarders are treated like criminals but really they are just athletically advanced. I think cities/ town need to change their unfair treatment of skate boarder. This issue affects people my age because a lot of us skateboard or have tried to skateboard. Almost everywhere you go you can read “No skateboarding, biking, or rollerblading.” We (skate boarders) have been forced out of known skate spots by storeowners and police. The police treat us like we are criminals when really we’re just looking to have fun. First you get a warring and you go on record. Second is a fine. Why would you fine someone for skateboarding. One way that cities/towns have tried to treat skateboarders fairly is to build skateboard parks. Unfortunately, most of those parks are made by people that can’t skateboard. They just don’t understand the momentum or gravity pull associated with the movement of skateboarding. This is an important issue that affects us and our community because we skateboarders aren’t going away. As humans beings grow, we go from crawling to walking and some of us grow from strollers to skateboards.
the war the war is an important issue to me and to many my age. Most of us are around 16, 17, or 18. We are all getting to the age that we can vote and go into the army or the air force, est. the war is something that we’ve heard about, learned about and some of us have even gone through. During our life time the United States has been through terries attacks from inside and outside of the United States and wars. I, myself can’t really tell you that I want to up out our troops or not but if you think about it, should we be there in the first place. In the past the U.S. has always been against war, right. well until we get touched. When someone steps on our soil, it freaks us all out and that’s normal, but should we of jumped right when it had happened. If you think about it we fight first and then was think later. Just like world war one and world war two. We were against war and then we were touched and we just jumped. When I was little… I thought that war was just some “thing” that was in some far off land that really didn’t have anything to do with me. I know a lot of people thought that when they were younger. Today when I went to answer this question, that was what came to my mind. This “thing” we call war is something that is way more important to us, now. I think and wonder how ignorant I could have been back then. War is something I have lived through. We all have. From April 19, 1995 when the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building was bombed, to September 9, 2001 when the twin towers fell. I myself can’t say that I want to pull our troops out but then again I do. Why should any more of our people, OUR citizens, die.
Important issues to me would have to be education and how america ranks something like 23rd in the world for schools. if people just payed attention and tried a little we could easily raise our status.
i also think about how in a lot of european nations they only go to high school til 16 then go on to the college tract or a trade school or an internship. some people arent cut out for college they should be given the option to get started in the direction of their choice.
i aslso think about abortion. its kind of a bad thing but its gonna happen and i'd rather it be legal so that the women who do make that choice can seek a medical proffessional. but if birthcontrol were more accesable to more people i think that could reduce the number of abortions as well.
to fzwchick013 i agree with you on this one but i also think that if we keep fighting that it is just going to cause more problems in the long run. We just need to either end the war or try to solve the problems in a different matter other than killing or we can just blow everything up and end it once and for all!
Important issues that effect me are college and education. It is so hard for people to be able to afford college and people who are more than smart enough to go cannot because they cannot afford it. It would be nice to see some kind of government program that helps people pay for college. And i agree with the next rockefeller that the status of our education being 23rd in the world needs to rise.
I think an important issue that affect people our age is most think they have to constantly have a boyfriend or girlfriend. It is not that I think you shouldn't have one but you need to have fun with your friends while you have the chance. In a short time we will be graduating and may never see some of our friends again. If your girlfriend or boyfriend means that much to you and they care about you then they will understand. If not then you should ask yourself if it is worth being with them.
I think a huge issue is drugs and alcohol. Divorce rates are up causing kids to spiral into depression and some take the extreme; taking their own life. I see more and more of the people I know bow to the "highs" of marijuana and I don't think they relize what they are getting themselves into until it's too late and maybe at that point they don't care I don't know, but if you're going to start, you should definatly look at the outcome and think about it.
fzwchck I totally agree! If I could serve this country by taking part in the armed forces I would and it makes sense to finish this war out right? It reminds me of the song Have you forgotten. Excelent song and for those who think we should pull out maybe listening to it may change your mind.
I think issues that affect us would be things like the war and new things that are going on in colleges and stuff like that. Once you turn 18 though stuff like politics and government get more invold with things like that because you are able to vote then and also you are paying taxes then. Also you are independant of yourself so you get more involved with the world.
I agree with you fzwchick013 some important issues are war. Some poeple believe that we should stay in Iraq and finish the war, but other people believe that we should leave Iraq soon and safely as possible. I believe that we should stay in Iraq and finish the war because if we leave right now then I think it will come back and bit us. I think some other thing will happen in our country and it would be worse than September 11th.
i agree with nan and fzwchick the war is a big issue and we should stay in Iraq because we have really gained control over there and will most likely end the war soon anyway drinking is also a big issue for us is drinking so many teens think that is ok to drink and start bring beer to parties and get their friends to drink and it just spreads for there more people need to think more they act
i agree with you londoneye, teens should focus more on what affect us directly like education. But many of us rather focus on our love life or friends who will eventually abandon you. war may be important to some teens, although is more of a family issue rather than a issue teens face.
I think the entire political scene is a big issue. The decisions politicians make now are going to effect my generation just as much as older generations, maybe even more so. Whatever they decide to do in Iraq will effect how other nations think of us. Also, the money we borrow now will have to repaid by us later on, not now, so we should be paying attention to the election and other decisions our government makes.

For those of you that are talking about the war I’d like to say that I DON’T SUPPORT THE WAS I SUPPORT THE MEN AND WOMAN FIGHTING IT.
